Bryce A. beckel



Director of Instrumental Music
Chair, Department of Fine Arts





Bryce A Beckel is a 3rd generation Bay Area educator. He is the Director of Instrumental Music and Chair of the Department of Fine Arts at Mission San Jose High School. Mr. Beckel oversees the MSJ concert bands, string orchestra, Warriors Marching Band & Color Guard, and the winter Color Guard and Drum Major programs.


Mr. Beckel received his Bachelors of Music in Music Education from Sonoma State University in 2018, followed by his Single Subject Teaching Credential in Music in 2019. In 2021 he completed a Master of Education in Education Leadership from the American College of Education.


Mr. Beckel is a member of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), California Band Directors Association (CBDA), California Orchestra Directors Association (CODA), California Music Educators Association - Bay Area (CMEA) and currently serves as the Membership Chair of the Northern California Band Association (NCBA).

David belles

David Belles is in his 16th year of vocal music education. Educated at CSUEB, and currently pursuing his Masters in Choral Conducting, Mr. Belles's professional experience includes work with Bullis Charter School, Cantabile Youth Singers, and Piedmont East Bay Children's Choir. He enjoys helping young people discover that anyone who wants to can sing well.

Ellie Tran



Color Guard



Ellie recently graduated from Mission San Jose High School and is currently studying Psychology at Ohlone College. She began color guard in 2020 over distance learning and continued performing throughout high school until she graduated in 2024. Following graduation, she performed with Imperialis in the Independent Open division during the 2025 winter season. She looks forward to returning to MSJ and helping the color guard team reach new heights!



Leo Reyes



Percussion



Leonardo Reyes-Jimenez is a percussionist based out of Santa Cruz. Previous marching experience includes Tri-City Percussion and Santa Cruz HS. His main goal is to make the Northern California marching community even stronger aside from becoming a percussion educator and marching world class ensembles.

Harrison Cheng



Operations



Harrison Cheng is a proud MSJ Band alumni from the Class of 2004 where he served as Drum Major for 3 years along with playing Oboe and Clarinet. Harrison has continued his involvement with the MSJ Performing Arts for over 20 years serving on the MSJ PUPs Board of Directors, as a music and marching instructor, and in his current role as Chief Operating Officer overseeing performance tours, meals, and more. Outside of MSJ, Harrison is the founder and director of the Tri-City Band Corps, a community youth music program with over 1000 participants each year. He is also the Director of College Counseling at Stratford Preparatory in San Jose, and a private college counselor.

Harrison holds a Bachelor's in Molecular Cell Biology from UC Berkeley, a Certificate of College Counseling from UCLA, Masters in Business Administration from UC San Diego, and Masters of Software Management from Carnegie Mellon.
